Baked Egg In Ham Bowls

A quick and efficient Paleo breakfast recipe that will get your morning off on the right footing and provide your body with what it will need throughout the day.
  • 4 Slices of Black Forest Ham, Smoked Turkey or Beef Salami
  • ½ Cup (125 ml) Sweet Green Pepper - Chopped
  • 4 Eggs
  • ¼ Teaspoon (1.25 ml) Pepper
  • ⅓ Cup (75 ml) Cheddar or Mozzarella Cheese - Shredded
  1. • Prepare your oven and four 3-inch (125 ml) ceramic ramekins or custard cups. Place an oven rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 375°F or 190°C. Grease your ramekins or cups using a pastry brush or waxed paper dipped in butter or shortening, or with a non-stick spray. Set the cups aside.
  2. • Cut your ham, turkey or salami into 5-inch (12 cm) circles. Stack one on top of the other and use a small knife with a cookie cutter or jar as a guide.
  3. • Cut the ham, turkey or salami scraps into small pieces and set aside.
  4. • Press each of the ham slices into each ramekin or cup. Make sure that the slices go all the way down to the bottom and up the side of each ramekin or cup. These will create your “bowl”.
  5. • Distribute the chopped sweet green pepper into each ramekin or cup.
  6. • Get a small bowl and break one egg. Then pour the egg into the prepared ramekin or cup. This will lessen any spill that might happen when you directly break the egg into the ramekin or cup. Repeat this with the remaining eggs into the remaining ramekins or cups.
  7. • Sprinkle the shredded ham, pepper, and cheese on top of each ramekin or cup. Place each ramekin or cup onto the baking sheet.
  8. • Bake the bowls for 15 minutes or until the whites are set, yolks are still runny and cheese is bubbly.
  9. • Remove the baking sheet and place it on a cooling rack. Take caution and wear oven mitts, the baking sheet will be very hot to handle.
  10. • Let the ramekins or cups cool for 5 minutes.
  11. • Serve whilst the ramekins or cups are still warm or you can remove each ham bowl from the ramekins or cups and plate.
  12. • Enjoy with your morning Paleo juice or Paleo coffee!
