Day 1- 21 Day Sugar Detox

20120829-213725.jpg Today was a new start for many things. Cal had his first FULL day of daycare. M had her first day of kindergarten. I received my first call from the nurses office at the school to come pick her up. We totally cleared off our kitchen counters(ok, maybe not a first but it has been a LOOOOOONG time), and I started my first day of the 21 Day Sugar Detox from Balanced Bites.

We actually eat pretty well but indulge almost daily on wine or cocktails. I often want to cut back or out completely and at the end of the day, or week, I just don’t have the where with all to stay “dry”. Prohibition at the Cogger house would not go over well. Don’t get me wrong. We don’t over consume. We don’t drink to much. But we do definitely enjoy an evening libation on a regular basis. So, for us the biggies on the 21 Day Detox are going to be no booze, no fruit(with the exception of green tipped bananas(yuck) and green apples…) and no emergency fallback on good quality, “natural” but prepared sauces that have added some though minimal sweeteners. Day 1 was a breeze and here is what I ate:

  • Breakfast was 2 eggs in pastured butter and coffee, black
  • Mid morning I had a carrot and a spoonful of almond butter
  • Lunch was a turkey burger and zucchini rounds cooked in bacon fat and 1/2 an avocado
  • Mid afternoon I had a good sized handful of coconut flakes and two glasses of iced tea
  • Dinner was Paleo Puttanesca over super dry meatballs

I really need to sit down and write out a meal plan for the next week. Between just getting home from travel, school and daycare starting and a million other things happening it’s going to be hard to keep it together if I don’t have a plan in place. Once I start working out again- tomorrow I hope- I will also need to eat a lot more than this.
